Watermelon is one of my favorite fruits to indulge. It’s sweet, refreshing, and helps to hydrate me when I need it. For this recipe it’s important to use frozen fruit, milk, and Greek yogurt to get a good smoothie consistency & texture for a great smoothie. Otherwise your smoothie will turn out like a drinkable juice- which there is nothing wrong with that. But for this recipe, I was aiming towards a smoothie that meets in the middle. It’s not super thick, but it also doesn’t feel like a cup of juice. This recipe has a great smoothie consistency. Plus, it’s so yummy!

The frozen watermelon, strawberries, and cherries are the perfect fruit combination. Yes, these three fruits are sweet but when you add the milk and Greek yogurt- it helps to balance and mellow out the sweetness. Your smoothie should have a great mild sweet taste that isn’t overly sweet or bitter. I did not add any extra sweetener because I feel like it didn’t need it. But if you want your smoothie more on the sweet side you can add a drizzle of honey or your sweetener of choice. Plus, you can make this smoothie a meal replacement by adding a little protein powder. Vanilla protein powder would go great with this smoothie recipe. Now if you decide to omit the oat milk and use orange juice in place of the milk- you should not need any sweetener. Orange juice is already sweet, so no need for any extra sugar. Not a fan of oat milk? well you can use almond milk or just plain low-fat milk. Feel free to make adjustments as needed for this recipe.

I hope you enjoy this healthy, great tasting smoothie recipe!
