This mashed sweet potatoes recipe is so smooth, creamy, and a guaranteed hit!

If you want a break from regular mashed potatoes, give these sweet potatoes a try. You will not be disappointed.

These mashed sweet potatoes are so delectable. They’re the best comfort food and easy to make at home! You can make this side dish in under 30 minutes. Don’t wait until the fall season to make this delicious dish, it’s perfect for year-round meals. You can pair this dish with some garlic butter ribeye steaks or seasoned chicken.

To make these fancy mashed sweet potatoes, you will start out by peeling or removing the skin. Once the skin is removed, I like to cut the potatoes into smaller pieces. but be careful when cutting into smaller pieces, the potatoes can be a little tough to cut. Before cooking the potatoes, I like to rinse them off under cold water a few times. Next, place them into a pot and add enough water to cover the potatoes. Allow the water to come to a boil and stir throughout the cooking time. You will Boil the sweet potatoes until tender. They should be soft but not mushy- you can use a fork to piece the potatoes and check for doneness. Once they are soft, drain the potatoes into a colander.

Next, melt some butter in a pot over medium heat. Once the butter is melted, add the potatoes to the pot and use a masher to mash the potatoes. Add some warm milk or half and half to the potatoes until they have a smooth and creamy consistency. It only takes a few ingredients to season the mashed sweet potatoes. I like to add a sprinkle of Cajun seasoning, black pepper, cinnamon, and a pinch of brown sugar. The sweet potatoes had a great savory taste with a hint of sweetness. I recommend adding a small pinch of brown sugar and cinnamon. No need to add too much, you just want a small hint of sweetness and not an overpowering sweet flavor. If you want to keep it simple and more healthy- just season with salt, pepper, and a small pinch of cinnamon.

My mashed sweet potatoes recipe is so good and simple to make. It’s the perfect side dish and it’s a recipe the whole family will love. This sweet potato recipe has the perfect creamy texture and buttery flavor!
