Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 Ib Sirloin Steaks
  • 8 oz Sliced Mushrooms
  • 1/2 Onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 Red Bell Pepper thinly sliced
  • 1/2 Green Bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 2 to 4 Cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/2 to 1 Tbsp Olive oil
  • Worcestershire sauce A few squirts
  • Cajun seasoning or Salt For Taste
  • Seasoned black pepper For Taste
  • Garlic & Herb seasoning For Taste
  • Onion powder For Taste
  • 14.5 oz Can Low-sodium Beef broth You may need 2 cans or use water instead
  • Cornstarch slurry 1 Tbsp Cornstarch & 2 Tbsps Water Thickens Gravy
  • Tip: Optional - The Lipton Beefy Onion Soup & Dip mix I like to add a pinch to the gravy if I have on hand.

Method

  1. Clean & prep the sirloin steaks. Pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Add a few squirts of the Worcestershire sauce to the meat & season with the dry seasonings (Season both sides).
  3. Tip: For the dry seasonings: Just season lightly & add enough Worcestershire sauce to coat the steaks. Rub the seasonings & sauce into the meat.
  4. Optional: Let the meat marinate for 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. In a pot or skillet, add the olive oil & allow it to get hot.
  6. Add the steaks and sear on both sides. Allow the meat to cook until browned which should take about 3 to 5 minutes each side.
  7. Next, add the veggies: Sliced onion, bell peppers, & garlic.
  8. Add the beef broth and allow the liquid to come to a boil.
  9. Lower the heat, cover pot with a lid, and allow the meat to cook until tender.
  10. Note: Cooking time will vary depending on thickness / cut of meat etc.
  11. The meat should cook for a few hours until soft/tender, so throughout the cooking time check the liquid and add extra water/broth if needed.
  12. When the steak is almost done, add the cornstarch slurry to thicken up the gravy.
  13. Tip: Do a taste test of the gravy and adjust with the same dry seasonings if needed.
  14. Once the meat is tender, add the mushrooms and cook an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
  15. The meat should be fully cooked. Check for doneness with a thermometer if unsure. but the steak will be soft/tender.
  16. Serve over a bed of rice or creamy mashed potatoes, enjoy!
