Method
- Clean and devein the shrimp.
- In a small bowl, combine all the dry spices and mix.
- Season the shrimp with some of the spice mixture and set aside.
- In a separate medium bowl, add the flour and cornstarch together. (Season the flour mixture)
- *If you decide to use the buttermilk in this recipe, season the buttermilk with some of the spices. To take it up a notch add a few drops of hot sauce to the buttermilk mixture, and mix everything together.
- Next, warm up your tortillas and keep them in a warmer until you’re ready for them.
- In a frying pan, add some oil and allow it to get hot.
- Dip the shrimp into the buttermilk mixture & shake off the excess. Then coat the shrimp with the flour mixture.
- If you’re not using the buttermilk method, simply coat the shrimp with the flour.
- When the oil is ready, fry the shrimp in batches for 2 to 4 minutes. Be sure to flip the shrimp over during cooking time to ensure the shrimp is cooked thoroughly.
- Once the shrimp is completely cooked through, remove the fried shrimp from the oil and drain on paper towel.
- Continue to fry the shrimp in batches until all the shrimp has been fried.
- Serve the shrimp on warm tortillas. Add the toppings and drizzle some of the bang bang sauce on top. Enjoy!
