Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 ½ Ib Ground beef
  • ½ medium Onion (Chopped)
  • 1 Small Bell pepper (Chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (Minced)
  • ½ to 1 tsp Oregano
  • ½ to 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp Cajun seasoning or salt
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 jars Tomato pasta sauce 24 oz (Recommend: Classico Traditional Sweet Basil Pasta Sauce Jar)
  • 16 oz box farfalle pasta
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/8 cup Reserved pasta water
  • Optional: Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: Garlic Bread

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Once the water is at a boil sprinkle a little bit of Cajun seasoning or salt to the water. Then add the bow tie (farfalle) pasta.
  2. Cook the pasta according to package instructions & stir consistently throughout cooking time. Once the pasta is done reserve about 1/8 cup of pasta water for the pasta sauce and drain the water/noodles in a colander. Set the noodles to the side for later.
  3. Over medium high heat, add the ground beef to a skillet. Season with the black pepper, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir the meat consistently & allow the ground beef to brown.
  4. Once the ground beef has been properly cooked, drain the excess oil & set the cooked meat to the side.
  5. In a large pot or pan, drizzle some olive oil over medium high heat.
  6. Allow the oil to get hot. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, Sauté for 3 to 5 minutes. Add the fresh garlic & stir for a few seconds until it becomes fragrant.
  7. Next, add the pasta sauce and cooked ground beef. Mix everything together.
  8. Add the reserved pasta water, basil, oregano, sugar, and stir until well mixed.
  9. Allow the meat sauce to simmer for 15 to 20 minutes on medium heat.
  10. After the sauce has simmered, add the cooked bow tie noodles and mix everything together. Allow the pasta to rest for 5 minutes.
  11. Serve with fresh garlic bread. Enjoy!
