This is a hearty meal that will leave everyone full and satisfied. If you want to switch things up a bit you can add Italian sausage in place of ground beef. A healthy alternative would be ground Turkey.

  • 1 to 1 ½ Ib Ground beef
  • ½ medium Onion (Chopped)
  • 1 Small Bell pepper (Chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (Minced)
  • ½ to 1 tsp Oregano
  • ½ to 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp Cajun seasoning or salt
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 2 jars Tomato pasta sauce 24 oz (Recommend: Classico Traditional Sweet Basil Pasta Sauce Jar)
  • 16 oz box farfalle pasta
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/8 cup Reserved pasta water
  • Optional: Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: Garlic Bread

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Once the water is at a boil sprinkle a little bit of Cajun seasoning or salt to the water. Then add the bow tie (farfalle) pasta.
  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions & stir consistently throughout cooking time. Once the pasta is done reserve about 1/8 cup of pasta water for the pasta sauce and drain the water/noodles in a colander. Set the noodles to the side for later.
  • Over medium high heat, add the ground beef to a skillet. Season with the black pepper, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir the meat consistently & allow the ground beef to brown.
  • Once the ground beef has been properly cooked, drain the excess oil & set the cooked meat to the side.
  • In a large pot or pan, drizzle some olive oil over medium high heat.
  • Allow the oil to get hot. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper, Sauté for 3 to 5 minutes. Add the fresh garlic & stir for a few seconds until it becomes fragrant.
  • Next, add the pasta sauce and cooked ground beef. Mix everything together.
  • Add the reserved pasta water, basil, oregano, sugar, and stir until well mixed.
  • Allow the meat sauce to simmer for 15 to 20 minutes on medium heat.
  • After the sauce has simmered, add the cooked bow tie noodles and mix everything together. Allow the pasta to rest for 5 minutes.
  • Serve with fresh garlic bread. Enjoy!
