Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 Cube steaks
  • 1 Tbsp Olive oil
  • ½ tsp Seasoned black pepper
  • ½ tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Chili powder
  • 1 Small White Onion sliced
  • 2 Cups Low Sodium Beef Broth
  • ½ Cup Flour
  • 1 Packet Lipton Recipe Secrets Beefy Onion Dry Soup and Dip Mix
  • Splash of Half & Half

Instructions

  • Prep the meat beforehand. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over the steaks. Season both sides of the meat with the spices and rub the seasonings into the meat. Allow the meat to marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • In a medium bowl add the flour and the same seasonings. (Tip: There’s No need to measure the seasonings when adding to the flour; just sprinkle a little bit of each spice to season the flour.)
  • Mix the seasonings into the flour. Make sure to set aside a teaspoon or two of the seasoned flour for later (to season the gravy).
  • Next, coat each cube steak with the seasoned flour and set them aside.
  • Over medium high heat, drizzle some olive oil in a skillet or pan and allow the oil to get hot.
  • Add the cube steaks to the oil. Sear for 5 minutes on one side, then flip over and sear the other side for 5 minutes or until the steaks are a golden-brown color. Note: don’t overcrowd the pan, cook in batches if you need to.
  • Remove the steaks from the oil and make sure to leave a small amount of oil in the pan.
  • Stir in the seasoned flour to the remaining oil and allow the flour to dissolve.
  • Next, add the low sodium beef broth and stir everything together. Make sure to scrap up any bits that may be stuck to the pan.
  • Add in the Lipton beef onion mix, sliced onions, and a splash of half and half. Mix everything together and allow the liquid to come to a boil.
  • Add the cube steaks to the gravy and coat them with some of the gravy.
  • Cover the pan with a lid and allow the steaks to finish cooking (about 10 to 15 minutes).
  • The gravy will begin to thicken up, so keep an eye on the gravy and stir consistently.
  • Check for doneness and make sure the meat is cooked to your liking.
  • Serve over white rice or mashed potatoes and a side of veggies. Enjoy!
