Bacon & Grits Breakfast Bowl Recipe

A hearty breakfast bowl filled with cheesy grits, scrambled eggs, and crispy bacon. A perfect weekend meal for the whole family to enjoy! You can pair this delicious breakfast bowl with some buttery croissants and/or biscuits.

Ingredients
  

Grits:
  • 1 Cup Grits
  • 3 to 4 Cups Water
  • Splash of Half & Half or Milk (or 1/4 Cup)
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • Salt & Pepper for Taste
  • Cheese (Cheddar, Mozzarella, or American)
Note: For thicker grits decrease the amount of water, and for thinner grits increase the water amount. 
Bacon:
  • 12 to 16 Slices Bacon or Turkey Bacon
Eggs:
  • 8 to 10 Eggs
  • Salt & Pepper for Taste
  • Splash of Half & Half or Milk
  • Cooking spray or butter or oil

Method
 

Grits:
  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add some butter, grits, and stir consistently throughout the cooking time.
  2. If the grits start to pop too much, lower the heat and cover the pot with a lid.
  3. Once the grits start to thicken up to your preference, add a splash of milk or half and half.
  4. Optional: add some shredded cheese to your grits and stir consistently.
  5. Optional: You can lightly season the grits with salt and/or black pepper.
Bacon:
  1. In a skillet over medium to medium-high heat, cook the bacon according to package instructions. (You may cook it stovetop, in the oven, or in the air fryer.)
  2. Allow the bacon to properly cook. Note: The Cooking time will vary and is based on how crispy you like your bacon.
  3. Remove the bacon from the skillet and allow it to drain on the paper towel. Remove skillet from heat turn off the stove.
Eggs:
  1. In a medium bowl, crack the eggs and add a splash of milk or half and half. Add a pinch of salt and black pepper for taste.
  2. Whisk everything together.
  3. Over medium heat, melt some butter in a skillet or You may use cooking spray in place of butter.
  4. Add the whisked egg to the skillet & stir the eggs consistently throughout the cooking time. Add some shredded cheese on top.
  5. The eggs will begin to set, they should be creamy and not dried out.
  6. continue to fold and stir the eggs every few seconds, as more curds should form.
  7. Once the eggs are about done or mostly set, remove from heat. Serve immediately.
