These Orange Pepper Wings are fried to the perfect crisp!

Tossed in a flavorful citrus orange pepper sauce, These wings are so delicious.

If you’re a fan of my lemon pepper wings, I think you should give these saucy wings a try.

I’m such a huge fan of orange pepper wings! The citrus flavor is so bold & yummy. And if you like fried wings tossed in a rich flavorful sauce- give this recipe a try. These wings are a great crowd pleaser and just finger licking good! You can serve these party wings as an appetizer or make it a meal with your favorite side dish. I love to serve them with a side of fresh hot French fries & sometimes a side of Cajun corn.

These Orange pepper wings are so flavorful and mouthwatering. Fried crispy crunchy wings, tossed in the perfect orange pepper citrus sauce. This recipe is pretty simple & straight forward. Plus, nothing beats an easy crispy fried chicken wing recipe. If you want your wings to be extra crispy with a little extra crunch, just add a few teaspoons of cornstarch to the flour.

The wings shouldn’t take too long to make. Just season them really good, coat with the flour, and fry in fresh hot oil. Once you bread the chicken with the flour, allow the meat to rest for 5 to 10 minutes. When you allow the breaded chicken to rest a little, it helps the breading/flour stick to the meat, and you get a crispier crust. For this recipe I didn’t season the flour, but you can if you want to. When frying the chicken make sure the oil gets to a good temperature for frying (350°F and 375°F). Allow the chicken to fry and cook completely through, it should take 12 to 15 minutes. But make sure the chicken is fully cooked.

For a Healthier Alternative:

If you’re trying to refrain from fried food – just season the meat & bake it in the oven until crispy. You will skip the egg/hot sauce portion & there’s no need to bread the meat with flour. Bake on a pan with a wire rack, flipping the meat halfway through cooking time. Prepare the orange pepper sauce as instructed and when the wings are done baking in the oven- just toss in the orange pepper sauce. This will be a healthier option, if you don’t want to fry the wings.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ to 2 Ibs Wings
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 to 2 Eggs
  • ½ to 1 Tbsp Hot sauce
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch for crispier wings
  • 2 tsp Chef Paul’s poultry seasoning or Chicken seasoning
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
Orange pepper sauce:
  • 1 to 1 ½ tsp orange marmalade
  • 2 to 4 Oranges Fresh juice
  • ½ tsp orange pepper seasoning
  • ½ Stick Butter
*The amount of oranges (fresh juice) you need will vary, depends on how much chicken you're preparing. So, keep that in mind. You want enough orange pepper sauce to coat all the wings.

Method

  1. Clean & prep the chicken wings, cut them into drumettes and wingettes. Pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Season the wings with Chef Paul’s poultry seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix.
  3. In a bowl mix the egg and hot sauce until well combined. Dip the chicken in the egg mixture. Shake off excess.
  4. Coat the chicken in the flour and allow it to rest for 10 minutes on a wire rack. Optional: For extra crispy wings- add some cornstarch to the flour.
  5. Heat the oil for frying, and once it reaches a good temperature 350°F and 375°F add the breaded chicken.
  6. Fry the wings for 12 to 15 minutes, or until fully cooked. Remove from the oil & drain on a cooling rack with paper towels underneath to catch excess oil.
Orange Pepper Sauce:
  1. In the meantime, make the orange pepper sauce. In a pot, melt the butter over medium low heat. Add the marmalade, fresh orange juice, orange pepper seasoning and mix everything until well combined.
  2. Allow the sauce to simmer for 2 to 4 minutes, do a taste test and make any adjustments if needed.
  3. Toss the wings into the sauce until well coated.
  4. Serve immediately, Enjoy.
