Crispy Fried Shrimp Tacos Recipe
Crispy Fried Shrimp Tacos are the best for Taco Tuesday!!! This shrimp taco recipe is so delicious and flavorful. The shrimp are well-seasoned, and the spices come together to give such a fulfilling taco. My fried shrimp taco recipe is easy to follow and doesn’t take much effort or time. You can serve up these delicious tacos in under 25 minutes.
The shrimp are fried to a crisp in a little bit of oil. Packed in a warm tortilla and filled with fresh cilantro, purple cabbage, and diced tomatoes. And you can’t forget to drizzle a little bit of the famous “Bang Bang Sauce” on top to rock your world!
Tip: If you decide to use the buttermilk in this recipe, season the buttermilk with some of the spices. To take it up a notch, you can add a few drops of hot sauce to add a banging flavor. But you may omit the buttermilk if you don’t want to use it in this recipe.

“Bang Bang Sauce Recipe”:
1/2 Cup of Mayo
3 Tbs Sweet Chili Sauce
4 tsp Sriracha Sauce (For Flavor)
2 tsp Honey
Taco Toppings:
Diced Tomato
Chopped Cilantro
Purple Cabbage (Alternative: shredded Lettuce)
Easy Fried Shrimp Tacos Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 Ib Shrimp (Clean & Devein Shrimp)
- ½ tsp Seasoned Black Pepper
- ½ tsp Old Bay Garlic & Herb
- 2 tsp McCormick Salt-Free Garlic & Herb. (Or Garlic powder)
- 2 tsp McCormick Salt-Free Onion & Herb (Or Onion powder)
- Street Tacos Tortilla (Corn or Flour)
- 1/2 Cup of Flour
- 1/4 Cup of Cornstarch
- Oil for Frying
- 1/3 cup Buttermilk (Optional)
Tip: If you decide to use the buttermilk in this recipe, season the buttermilk with some of the spices. To take it up a notch, you can add a few drops of hot sauce to add a banging flavor.
Instructions
- Clean and devein the shrimp.
- In a small bowl, combine all the dry spices and mix.
- Season the shrimp with some of the spice mixture and set aside.
- In a separate medium bowl, add the flour and cornstarch together. (Season the flour mixture)
- *If you decide to use the buttermilk in this recipe, season the buttermilk with some of the spices. To take it up a notch add a few drops of hot sauce to the buttermilk mixture, and mix everything together.
- Next, warm up your tortillas and keep them in a warmer until you’re ready for them.
- In a frying pan, add some oil and allow it to get hot.
- Dip the shrimp into the buttermilk mixture & shake off the excess. Then coat the shrimp with the flour mixture.
- If you’re not using the buttermilk method, simply coat the shrimp with the flour.
- When the oil is ready, fry the shrimp in batches for 2 to 4 minutes. Be sure to flip the shrimp over during cooking time to ensure the shrimp is cooked thoroughly.
- Once the shrimp is completely cooked through, remove the fried shrimp from the oil and drain on paper towel.
- Continue to fry the shrimp in batches until all the shrimp has been fried.
- Serve the shrimp on warm tortillas. Add the toppings and drizzle some of the bang bang sauce on top. Enjoy!
