You can use whatever cut of steak you like. Some steak options are ribeye, New York strip, sirloin, or filet mignon. But use whatever cut of meat is affordable for you. I seasoned my steak with a little bit of black pepper, salt, and the Lawry’s casero total seasoning. If you want to keep it simple just use only salt and pepper, or you can use your favorite steakhouse seasoning. Allow the steak to come to room temperature so that it cooks evenly, and it will be tender as well. I seared the steak in some olive oil of medium high heat and flipped it throughout the cooking time. To finish my steak off I basted it with some melted butter and fresh garlic. If you want to add fresh herbs- you can add fresh rosemary or thyme. Feel free to make any adjustments and add your own twist. Another option is to sear the steak stove top and finish it in the oven. But don’t hesitate to make this dish your own.

For this recipe, use whatever size shrimp that you want. Just make sure you clean (peel & devein) the shrimp beforehand. I seasoned the shrimp with some seasoned black pepper and old bay garlic & herb seasoning. Sauté the shrimp in a little bit of olive oil and melted butter, then finish it off with freshly squeezed lemon juice. The shrimp was so juicy and succulent, with a great lemony flavor. Old bay is a great seasoning to use on shrimp, but you can keep it simple with just a little bit of salt and pepper. Shrimp cooks pretty fast, so it should only take two to four minutes. If anything, the shrimp will turn opaque. The safest way to check for doneness is to use a thermometer if you’re unsure. When cooking the shrimp feel free to add fresh garlic and a little crushed red pepper. For this recipe, be as versatile as you like and fix this delicious dinner to your liking.

Cajun Butter Sauce Ingredients:

half and half

butter

creole Cajun seasoning

Sazon seasoning

parsley

Seasoned pepper

Parmesan Cheese

Squeeze fresh lemon juice  (Just a small pinch)

How to make the Cajun Butter Sauce

For the Cajun butter sauce: I did not measure, I free-styled the sauce and made adjustments as needed.
To make the sauce- Melt the butter in a pan on medium heat & stir in a little half and half. Add the other ingredients and mix everything together until the cheese melts. Stir consistently until everything is well blended. Do a taste test and make adjustments if needed. The sauce should have a smooth thin consistency.
