Delicious Cheesy Steak Omelet

How to make a Tasty Good Omelet!

Omelets are super easy to make and there are so many variations you can try. You can make a bacon/sausage omelet or even a veggie omelet. But when it comes to a steak omelet – it’s super fulfilling and the ultimate breakfast to get the day started!

My steak omelet recipe is so yummy and it’s a hearty breakfast. You can make it a complete meal by pairing it with a side of fruit, breakfast potatoes, or hash browns. For this recipe you will need a nice cut of steak (your choice), your favorite veggies, eggs, and of course some shredded cheese to top the omelet off. Feel free to use sirloin, flank, or ribeye steak or whichever cut is affordable. I sliced up a variety of bell peppers and onion for my veggies, but feel free to switch out to the veggies you want. Some veggie alternatives you can use are spinach, mushrooms, tomato, green onion, or zucchini. Don’t be scared to be versatile!

When it comes to seasoning your omelet; you can keep it simple with just some salt and pepper or use your favorite steakhouse seasoning (or an all-purpose seasoning). All you must do is just season the meat and veggies to your liking, it shouldn’t require too much seasoning. I only seasoned the meat and veggies. I didn’t bother to add more seasoning to the eggs- I feel it didn’t need it. And I love to top my omelets off with cheese. If you have a favorite cheese you like to mix in your eggs by all means don’t skim out on the cheese. Cheddar, mozzarella, Gouda, and monetary jack cheese are great options to choose from.

Now one important thing to remember when making an omelet is to have patience and try not to disturb the egg as much. Allow the eggs to cook/firm up, you shouldn’t have to do much mixing or scrambling of the eggs. I know Everyone has their own techniques; but the less you move the egg and allow it to sit in the pan without touching- the better. As soon as curds begin to form/set, lift the pan and tilt it around until the excess liquid pours off the top and into the pan. You can use a spatula to check the edges & check for any runny excess liquid(egg). Another tip is to lightly shake the pan, when the egg is set it will slide easily and not be runny.

For a fully stuffed omelet- just add a little more steak, veggies, and cheese on top. Pair your yummy omelet with hash browns, fruit, and a cup of orange juice or coffee. I hope you guys enjoy this delicious hearty steak omelet recipe!

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Course Breakfast
Cuisine American
Servings 2

Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 oz steak Thinly Sliced
  • ½ to 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • ½ small White Onion Thinly Sliced
  • 6 eggs
  • Splash Half & Half Alternative: Milk or water
  • ½ Cup Bell peppers Thinly Sliced
  • Cheese Shredded Cheddar, Mozzarella, or Monetary Jack cheese
  • Salt and Black pepper Or Steakhouse Seasoning to taste
  • ¼ tsp chili powder optional

Note: Veggie Alternatives/Options:

  • Spinach
  • Mushrooms
  • Sliced tomato
  • Avocado

Instructions

  • Clean & prep the meat/veggies beforehand. Cut into thin slices and set aside. In a medium bowl crack the eggs & whisk with milk or half and half.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add the sliced steak. Season the steak to your liking with salt & pepper or use your favorite steakhouse seasoning and sauté.
  • Allow the steak to cook to your desired preference/doneness (medium, medium rare, or well done etc).
  • Once the steak is done remove from the skillet and set the cooked meat to the side.
  • Add the sliced veggies to the same skillet and season to your liking. Sauté the veggies for 3 to 5 minutes or until they’re tender and crisp.
  • In a separate skillet, melt some butter over medium high heat and allow the butter to sizzle a little bit.
  • Pour the whisked eggs into the skillet and allow the eggs to begin to set or cook for 1 to 3 minutes untouched.
  • As soon as curds begin to form/set, lift the pan and tilt it around until the excess liquid pours off the top and into the pan.
  • The eggs should firm up & you shouldn’t have runny excess liquid(egg).
  • Start topping your omelet with cheese, the cooked steak, and veggies on one side of the omelet.
  • Use a spatula to check the outer crust to see if the egg is not sticking but firm enough to fold.
  • Next, jiggle or give a soft shake to the pan to see if the omelet slides or is free and not sticking to the pan. If it glides easy & the edges are firm (no runny egg) the omelet is good to go.
  • Use a spatula to fold the omelet in half. Top with more steak slices, veggies, & cheese.
  • Cook a few more seconds or a minute and allow the cheese to melt.
  • Remove to a plate for serving and pair with fresh fruit, potatoes or hash browns. Enjoy!
