This pepper steak dish is so scrumptious; and the sauce is savory, seasoned to perfection. 

Serve this delicious mouthwatering pepper steak over a bed of rice or noodles. When I make this dish, I like to throw in some Plantains and sliced avocado. 

Pepper steak is a stable in my household, especially for a quick weeknight meal. You can make this meal in under 45 minutes, and it doesn’t take much effort. Plus, you can customize this recipe to your liking. But I promise this is a recipe that you will want to store in your archives, this dish is just that good. The sauce is well seasoned, savory, and has such exquisite taste. No need to order pepper steak from the restaurant, especially when you can make it fresh at home. It’s super comforting and so yummy, even the picky eaters will love this delicious dish. It’s full of flavor and so savory. This stir fry steak recipe is one of the best and you will have a 5-star restaurant quality meal in no time. If you’re a gravy lover, add some buttery dinner rolls to soak up that delicious sauce.

Now, for this pepper steak recipe you can use whatever cut of meat you like. Pick a beef that is in your budget and affordable. Some good meat options for this recipe is sirloin, flank, ribeye, or strip. If you want to tenderize the meat- just cut it across the grain and/or use a meat mallet. But you shouldn’t need a meat mallet- it’s completely optional. I like to season the meat and allow it to marinate, all you need is 10 to 30 minutes. Marinating the meat just gives it a boost in flavor and enhances the taste. I love to add veggies to this perfect pepper steak stir fry. I usually use a yellow or white onion with a variety of colorful bell peppers to give this dish a little pop. This recipe is perfect as is and I recommend giving it a try, you will not be disappointed! It’s full of yummy flavor and so delicious. I love to make a little extra to have leftovers for the next day.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 Ib Steak Thinly Sliced
  • 2 Bell peppers
  • 1 Small Onion
  • 1/2 to 1 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tsp Low Sodium Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 Packet of Lipton Recipe Secrets Beefy Onion Dry Soup and Dip Mix
  • 1 1/2 to 2 Cups Beef Broth or Beef stock Regular or Low-Sodium
  • 1/2 tsp Adobo
  • 1 tsp McCormick Salt-Free Garlic & Herb
  • 1 tsp McCormick Salt-Free Onion & herb
  • 1/2 tsp Seasoned black pepper
  • Cornstarch slurry: prepare 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water.
  • Optional: Splash of Browning sauce (For a darker gravy, completely optional)
  • Optional: Pinch of Sugar

Instructions
 

  • Prep the meat beforehand, cut the steak into thin slices against the grain. Season the steak with the adobo, seasoned black pepper, McCormick salt free onion & herb / garlic & herb, a small drizzle of olive oil and the soy sauce.
  • Mix all the seasonings into the steak and marinate for at least 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Prep the veggies: cut the bell peppers and onion into thin slices, then set aside.
  • In a skillet over medium high heat, drizzle the olive oil and allow it to get hot. Once the oil is hot, add the meat to the pan.
  • Allow the steak to brown which should take about 5 to 7 minutes. Note: the steak will not be fully cooked, it will finish cooking in the gravy. You just want to brown the meat and once it’s browned remove it from the skillet.
  • Next, add the sliced veggies to the skillet and sauté for about 2 minutes.
  • Add the beef broth/stock, Worcestershire sauce, Lipton Recipe Secrets Beefy Onion Dry Soup and Dip Mix, and cornstarch slurry. Browning sauce is completely optional. Stir everything together.
  • Allow the liquid to come to a broil, then add the browned steak to the pan. Lower the heat to medium-heat and cover with a lid.
  • Let the pepper steak simmer until the beef is fully cooked and the gravy has thickened up to your liking.
  • Note: Halfway through cooking time do a taste test, add make any adjustments if needed. (If I want or need a little bit more flavor, I just sprinkle a little bit of the salt free onion & Herb and salt free garlic & herb, but you shouldn’t need it).
  • Be sure to stir halfway through cooking time. It should take 25 to 35 minutes to finish cooking but use a thermometer to check for doneness if unsure.
  • Serve over rice. Add some Plantains and sliced avocado as well, Enjoy!
