This easy under 15-minute sautéed broccoli recipe is cooked in olive oil and fresh garlic. But the broccoli is seasoned to perfection with a few spices to give it that EXTRA flavorful taste!

Let’s just be honest with each other. No one likes bland broccoli or bland veggies. Which is healthy by the way and I’m not knocking bland foods, but sometimes people want to add a little spice and seasonings to their cooking. Either way is cool, healthy, and tasty. As long as you’re seasoning in moderation! But this broccoli recipe is super good and flavorful. My broccoli recipe is the perfect side dish and will complement any protein of your choice. Steak, chicken, seafood especially grilled or sautéed salmon- you name it! This broccoli recipe is so quick to make and it’s super tasty.

I’m happy to share my easy and simple method on how I make one of the best sautéed broccoli dishes. Broccoli is one of my favorite veggies to have and I love to spruce them up a bit with a little extra added flavor. This is a great recipe and simple to follow- hands down! When it comes to cooking broccoli, you can either sauté broccoli or boil it. But this recipe in particular sautés the broccoli in some olive oil and finishes it off with cooking on medium to medium-low heat in a covered pot.

I like to start out with pan searing the broccoli in some olive oil for 2 to 4 minutes over medium high heat. I usually season my broccoli with seasoned black pepper or garlic pepper (which ever one I have on hand). Then I sprinkle a little bit of Cajun seasoning, onion & herb, and garlic & Herb Seasoning. Now if you want to keep it really really simple – just season with a little salt and a little black pepper and you can omit the garlic & herb and onion & Herb Seasoning. I recommend using fresh broccoli and not the frozen bagged broccoli.

So, after I season the broccoli with those ingredients, I’ll sauté in the olive oil for a few minutes. After the first few minutes I’ll add some fresh minced garlic and mix that in for a few seconds before I cover the pot with a lid. Right before I add a lid over the pot, I like to add a few pieces of butter to give my broccoli that extra flavor. Adding the butter is completely optional- it’s just something I like to do.

But it’s important to not skip out on covering the pot with a lid. Why? – because covering the pot with a lid allows the broccoli to somewhat “steam” for the remainder of the cooking time. Allow the broccoli to steam for 6 to 10 minutes. The cooking time will vary and will depend on how tender and crisp you like your broccoli. If you want your broccoli to be firm but crisp, it will require less cooking time. So, keep an eye on your broccoli. You can check for tenderness by easily piercing a broccoli stem with the tip of a sharp knife or fork. Once the broccoli is at the desired tenderness you like, serve as the perfect side dish.

This broccoli recipe will go with so many dishes. Rather it’s fried pork chops, baked chicken, or pan seared steak or salmon. Broccoli is a versatile veggie and can complement so many dishes. Ingredients
  

  • 2 Tbsps Olive oil
  • 4 cups Fresh Broccoli florets
  • ¼ tsp Cajun Seasoning or salt
  • ¼ tsp Garlic pepper
  • ½ tsp Onion & Herb Seasoning Optional
  • ½ tsp Garlic & Herb Seasoning Optional
  • 2 to 4 Cloves Fresh Garlic minced
  • 1 or 2 small pieces Butter Optional

Instructions
 

  • Drizzle the olive oil in a pan or skillet and allow the oil to get hot over medium-high heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the fresh broccoli florets and sauté for two to four minutes.
  • Then, season the broccoli with the following seasonings: garlic pepper, Cajun seasoning, onion & herb and garlic & herb.
  • Add the fresh minced garlic and mix the ingredients all together.
  • Optional: add a few pieces of butter after mixing everything together.
  • Place a lid over the pot or skillet. This will allow the broccoli to “steam”.
  • Cook on medium to medium-low heat for 6 to 10 minutes.
  • The cooking time will vary & will depend on how tender you like your broccoli.
  • To check for tenderness- just pierce a broccoli stem with the tip of a sharp knife or fork.
  • Once the broccoli is tender and crisp to your liking, remove from heat.
  • Serve as a side dish for your favorite home cooked meal. Enjoy!
